A friend of mine called me today and related an experience that I think all of us could benefit from. She has issues in her life, as we all do, and at one point, feeling a little blue, she pulled out a piece of paper and drew a line down the middle. On one side she put all the things that were good in her life. All those things that she was grateful for, and that made her happy. On the other side she put all the things that were not so good, those things that made her feel down. From that impromptu list she found that there were 27 things in her life that were positive, and only 5 that were not. Well, 27 to 5 is a pretty good ratio, and I’m willing to bet that if she spent a little more time she may have widened that ratio.
I’ll try it tonight. It sounds like a great way to get it out into the open and see what you may have been taking for granted.
