Organize Your Life

Does this scenario sound familiar? The house (or your room) is a mess, and has been for a while, the car hasn’t been washed since…you aren’t sure what bills are coming due, you haven’t exercised since…If any of these things sound even remotely familiar, then a reorganization of your life is in order.

Trying to walk around with everything in your head will ultimately lead to something being forgotten, something not getting done. The conscious mind is only designed for in the moment decisions for the most part, so if you have upcoming priorities, or regularly scheduled events that demand your attention, then the list might be what you need. Making a list can be quite powerful, and the odds that the things on that list are accomplished are much more likely. How does it work? There probably is a scientific explanation for it, but the fact of the matter is that a list, or a day plan is very efficient.

Goal setting in general can get relatively complex, at least in the initial stages, so for now lets focus on tomorrow. Sit down tonight and write down everything that you need to do, and everything that you would like to do tomorrow. Remember, just for tomorrow. Sure, going to work or school is likely to be on the list, but what else? Washing that car? Getting that birthday card for so and so? An evening jog? Whatever it is, write it down, and as you do these tasks cross them off the list. What you get done may surprise you…
